As you may know, Andiamo Cycling Club is a NJ Non Profit Corporation and considered a charitable organization formed under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. As such we have to donate funds raised from our members (through the membership fees) to a charity every year. The Andiamo CC Mission Committee is responsible for determining the annual grant recipient, once the amount is approved by the Andiamo CC Board. The Board agreed to allocate $2000 for our 2021 grant.
The Andiamo CC Mission Committee had a good call with Ken Seebeck, League Director of the local NJ chapter of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) who is our annual grant recipient.
We discussed the impact our gift can make with NICA with regard to our mission goals of cycling safety and education. The most impact we agreed on is to have this gift purchase helmets for NICA students (5th - 8th grade) which are sorely needed, and they will be in our club blue color with Andiamo branding stickers (aka “Andiamo Helmets” - see example below). They also agreed to allow us to have our tent as a sponsor at their state championships (est. 1000+ participants in Chester next Spring 2023) and provide an opportunity for volunteering. This might be a good partnership to promote a B ride for teenage road cyclists to encourage broader outreach in the community.
